"Helping as many people in times of need"

National Lottery Community Fund

In November, we were awarded a grant from the National Lottery to help as many disabled people across Greater Manchester and the North-West as possible. Over the next year we will be opening a hotline service to help families, a drop-in service to help with advocacy, support plans for children, benefits advice and training.

We want to help families with disabled children access the right information and get them the support they need. Details of the hotline and the drop-in will be announced in December so keep an eye out on the social media as well as here for more information.

Family Advocacy Launched in Bury

In February we held our first family advocacy meeting at Bury Business Lodge at Imperial House in Bury.

We are using these sessions as an opportunity to help families work through problems and as well as confidence building and training opportunities. We cannot wait to hold more of them over the coming months.

DROP-IN LAUNCHED IN HEYWOOD/MIDDLETON/ROCHDALE

In February, we launched a drop-in for families across Rochdale at Back of the Moss Community Centre in Heywood.

This was well attended and supported where we helped families with their EHC Plans, Personal Budget queries for disabled children and Universal Credit issues for disabled families too.

DROP-IN UPDATES FROM BURY

In January we held our first drop-in at Bury2Gether Community Centre where we helped families with their EHC Plans and Universal Credit queries.

We are thank Bury2Gether for their support as we look for a permanent base for our future drop-in sessions for families in Bury.

Continuing our work with Edge Hill University

Our next lecture will be in January 2023, training social workers and NHS staff of the future with the help of the National Lottery.  It means that we can continue building on our relationship with the University, with the aim of delivering more courses in the future.

The lecture will be practical and more work-based, enabling the BA students to get hands-on experience of filling out a care plan and a person-centred care plan. Look out for more details about this in the New Year!

Thank you to the National Lottery!
